Windows 8: The Threat.

As expected, Microsoft has once again surprised the world with yet another operating system (OS). Instead of giving it a fancy name, they called it Windows 8. But we’ve got to admit, none of us saw the whole tablet integration coming. Not only does it allow tablet manufactures to run Windows 8 on their products, but it enables Microsoft – PC users to link their computer and tablet effortlessly through the Microsoft network. Not to mention Windows 8 might become a threat to Android. But, it’s too soon to judge at this moment. With technologies prevailing rapidly every day, Google – developers of Android might release something even better than Windows 8!

Windows 8: Not Too Shabby.

Although negative critics throughout the internet are saying Windows 8 aren’t user friendly at all! Some are even saying Windows 8 is insulting their intelligence with not-so-friendly user interface. For example, an icon would appear in your start menu whenever you install an app or program. More icons will eventually stack above it as you install more apps and programs. So you might be thinking, “Alright, what so bad about it then?” Well, the disadvantage of this is that, the icon will stay there and it won’t go away, EVER. Thus if you are looking for a specific app, you will have to scroll through countless of pages of app icons JUST to look for this single app (depending on the number of apps you have). Hence, the purpose of the “search” feature is meant to “help” resolve the treasure-hunt issue. But many critics have claimed that Windows 8 Search function is very “limited”. Thus, meaning that 30-50% of the apps typed in the search will result, “No apps match your search.” And if you’re an active computer user, you might’ve adopted to using the quick search function for finding programs such as msconfig or uninstall. But guess what? That search function that allows users to save time from digging DOES NOT WORK. But instead, the user would have to open up control panel and then search for the Microsoft programs such as Services or rsconfig.exe. Aside from the fact that it has a very graphical and artistic user interface (GUI), Windows 8 is not suited for advanced users. And not recommended for desktops. Furthermore, Windows 8 is design specifically for tablets, meaning if you do install it on your PC, a lot of features will not be available when compared to Windows 7.
